It's about time!

I just figured out the problem with my camera (sort of), and am happy to post some the pics I have from November when we said a sad farewell to our amazing Yolanda. We are all going to miss her, and we all wish her only the best in her new life!

Winter is here in full force, and I hope you are all having a wonderful time getting ready for Christmas- (even if your NOT having a wonderful time driving in all the slush)! I hope you all have a Happy Christmas, and that you get to spend quality time with your family and loved ones.

Thanks to everyone who made the Christmas party fun (and thanks to Janet for setting it up)!

I haven't posted anything for a while, so I thought I'd sum up some great news here:

Holly had her twins (Olivia and Ben!
Lyndsay had Henry, and it sounds like they are both doing very well!
Janet is engaged, and getting married in February!
McKell graduates from nursing school this month!
Meredith is going to Paraguay on her mission!
...which is also sad news as she has left us. :(
Good luck Meredith, and know that we will miss you!!!

Dance in the Rain

I went to a Healing Connections meeting this afternoon where they played a short little clip about gratitude. I really enjoyed it, and thought I'd post a link here for anyone who would like to see it. It is less then 3 minutes. Hope you like it!

We knew her when....

Traci Wennerholm was on Studio 5 this morning educating us all about good deals on healthy/ organic/ whole foods! Here is link- you should check it out! Good Job Traci- and don't forget us when you are all sorts of famous! :)
I cannot get the blogger to link to the site- so you may have to cut and paste- but here's the address! :)

Welcome fall and other catch-up stuff :)

Its fall again- I love this time of year! I hope you all were better at getting up to the canyon to see the leaves change. I did get to drive up the other day, but it is now past the most beautiful time- though still pretty.
Joe is officially no longer with us and has made the transition to the dark side. He did leave his new card the other night- so I placed it in the A side "numbers" book--please feel free to call his new extension and leave him hate messages for leaving us! :)
On the up-side: We now have Ben as Clinical Educator and he's doing a great job!
I hope that you all managed to get your flu shot this year (no excuses- I even got one this year!!). We have a few people out because either they or their family (in some cases both) have probable swine flu. Sorry to all those who are sick, and thanks for calling in so that the rest of us don't catch it! :) Also, Tiff will be out of commission for a few weeks and we all want to wish her a speedy recovery! Get well soon everyone!

Shakera left a little note:

"Wow! I can't believe they put my pic on a bus. It's cool. Thanks Janet for letting me know I finally made it big. Hi! to all my friends on Fourth. I miss you guys too. Take care."

Halloween is coming and I hope you all have amazingly fun plans!! Gardner Village is always all decked out for Halloween fun and is a great place to try if you have never been there. :) Here a link for them:
http://www.gardnervillage.com/
Also- I know that Thanksgiving Point does some fun stuff in the fall for all ages:
http://www.thanksgivingpoint.com/
I have never been- but have heard that Red Butte Garden has some fun fall stuff too:
http://www.redbuttegarden.org/
If you have any events you would like to share just let me know and I'll post them for everyone!!! :)

Have a great and safe fall everyone- and thanks so much for all you do!
Our floor rocks and it wouldn't be the fun place to work that it is if it weren't for all of you!!!

Our wonderful Holly...

I hope she is okay with me putting this picture up on the blog- but it is from her facebook page, so I feel like it's now free for the posting...right? :) It's a cute pic so I don't really think she will care.....
She is 22 weeks here...
For those who have not heard, she is having twins. A boy(Ben) and a girl(Olivia).

Audrey had the fun of seeing a few weeks ago and said she was doing well, but misses us a lot! :)

Joe is leaving us! :o(

I'm sure by now you have all found out about Joe leaving us for the "other" hospital. He will now be over the nursing supervisors, care managers, and clinical educators (I think) over there. Although we are sad to see you go- we all know you are going to do a wonderful job! :) Good luck Joe and keep in touch! :)

It's the night for visitors!

Sara and Dyana both came in to see us tonight! They're both doing well. Dyana is due in 8 weeks (Bracken or Brady) and would love to come back to us but it's just too far from home :(. Sara is not coming back to work with us right now, but has a great job all lined up as a CNA for a little boy with SZ disorder that will allow her to work on School full time. Maybe when she is an RN she will come back to play with us here!! :) Aren't you all sorry you weren't here tonight??? :)

"Princess" Sarah Buhler is home from her mission to NY, NY. She will be speaking in church on the 19th @ 0900. The address is 390 West 1100 East in AF- north of the AF hospital.
Welcome home Sarah!!

And one more... Kevin Peterson is now an ICU nurse...

Kevin (who decided not to tell us until his last day) is now working in the ICU. I don't think it will take them long to figure out what a great addition to their staff he is going to be!
Good luck Kevin- and please feel free to pick up any extras on the floor!!!! :)
You'll be missed, so make sure you keep in touch! :)

and the list continues... Valerie is gone now :(

Valerie is moving to Arizona where her husband had a job offer as a teacher in Casa Grande. (Congrats to him)!
Val-
Good luck- keep us updated and don't melt! ;)

Janet is NOT quitting!

I think there has been a little note of worrying on the unit for about a week now. When Janet puts up a sign that says there's going to be a mini-meeting and everyone is encouraged to be there because there are going to be some changes on our unit- we get a little nervous.
The good news is- she not leaving. Because of the awsome person that she is, the higer ups have decided that she would be the best person to establish a new position as the neuro surgeon lieason. This will most likely end up being a part of her position here as the manager of the fourth floor. Getting this position up and running will take some serious commitment of time- so she is taking a leave of absence from us to focus on this. Janet says we should think of it as a type of "maternity leave"--Joe will take over for six months, and then she'll be back!
We asked the important questions:
1)Will your office still be your office?
No- this is so that the transistion will be smoother
2)Will you still be around?
"I'll probably be here more than I want to be." :)
3)Will you still be at the monthly lunches :)?
Yes
Good luck Janet- not that you'll need it!!! :)

Holly Jara is gone :(

Holly, who has been on our floor for so long, is now leaving us. She brought us the Jara fall protocol, Teal Thursday, "this is how I fall and slide" videos, special 7 layer bean dip,and was instramental in initiating check-your-check-Tuesday.
I was not there on her last night *sniff*, so I am just going to post a few pics I have of her from other events.
Congrats on the twins- let us know how you are, and when you have them. Keep up on your blog, and call us at night when you have nothing to do! :)

Heidi's last night

Heidi is also moving away from us. Of course we ate (cuz that's what we do) and chatted. Heidi is moving to Arkansas for a few months, and then will be a full time mom- Congrats!!! We will miss you!! (OH- and Heidi, I tried to post the video but it's not working- sorry! :) You are so good at keeping up on your blog that I'm sure we will see pics of the little one not long after you have him/her. :)

We will miss you Ben!

These are some pics from Ben Chu's last night at work. Ben is off getting an education in Delleware- and all of us who have work with him know he's going to be a great PA!
Ben- our floor wont be the same without you're musical influences and humor! Good luck and keep us updated!!! :)

Here is Ellen enjoyin the dinner we had... :)

Hello from Katie!

Hey Janet!

I hope things are going well in Utah and also on the 4th floor! I miss you all a lot and I miss working with the patients. I have not been working because I am currently applying to a Family Nurse Practitioner program here and I don't want to work and do that at the same time. I would say I'm lazy, but I felt like I would do better if school was my main focus at this time. Tell everyone I said hello and I miss you all a ton!

Love Katie Foote

Hello from Ben

Hey Janet,

I just wanted to let you know that I am adjusting well to my new life in Delaware. PA school is going fairly well too, although I sometimes have trouble staying focused when I'm in class from 8am-7pm. It's almost like a 12hr shift at work except I listen to professors lecture and I don't get to run around very often. I'm starting to think that I may have to incorporate running/walking around the building during our 5-10min breaks! Anyway, I miss you guys and I hope things are going really well at the hospital.

Sincerely,

Ben Chu

Welcome back Julie!
Julie has been gone taking care of her cute new baby girl, and we had a little welcome back/ congrats on the new little one party on Monday. Kellie (Justin's wife) came by to drop off some food (as she always does- Thanks!), and brought their son. Cute kids!
Kellie is holding Anna, and Julie is holding Mayson in these pics. :)

We'll Miss You Katie!

Just a little note to say how much we will all miss Katie. She is a fun person who made us all laugh and was the first to invite us all to "ask Peter" all of our deep questions! ;) We all hope you have a great time in Alabama, and wish you well in your life! Keep us updated on the goings on of your life!

I am having a hard time getting the blogger layout to work- it will not let me change much, but I will keep working on it. For now however, I am posting Miriam's new blog address here so that you all are free to enjoy it before the problem gets fixed( you will have to cut and paste the address because it will not let me even link...grrr..) ;)

Traci Wennerholm sent me an update!!! :)

Dawney and Gang,

Hope you guys are doing well! I miss you guys so much and think about all of you. (To be perfectly honest, only most of you.)
Life has been crazy since I left. My nephew who I quit for left at Christmas time. (Della called that one at six months--four months longer than the original two months he was supposed to have stayed. And he would still be here today...)
As soon as Christmas was over we started the kitchen remodel and are in the middle of that right now. I am currently microwaving in the living room. It's kind of like camping, only it's not a five star resort.

The stay at home Mom thing was supposed to get better with time, but I just find that I am back into working--from home this time. Although if a tempting offer was presented, you could probably tempt me back. Working at home isn't too exciting. I am working with the American Diabetes Association and several other authors to publish a book. It should be out in the next six months or so depending on who picks it up. Exciting...

The family is doing well. Emily is six and so cute with her two front teeth missing. Travis is 3 and 1/2 and into everything--literally. I always find him trying to harass Emily in some sort of way. And earlier he tried flying off the bunkbed ladder like Ironman but came to me and showed me his carpet burn and told me we probably need to buy rockets like Ironman. And Scott is doing good. He's still working in Bountiful for the car auction.

I miss you guys and hope everyone is doing good. Let me know all the news. I keep meaning to get up there to visit but something always comes up and I know that you guys are busy...maybe the next potluck Sunday. Let me know.

Take Care! Traci Wennerholm

... Here is Traci's e-mail if you would like to drop her a line and let her know how you are doing!!! :) twennerholm@msn.com

Holly's nephew

Holly Garrison's 3 year old nephew, Ben, is at Primary Children's Medical Center in the PICU. He has a tennis ball size tumor (actively bleeding) pressing on his brain stem. He is still in a coma at this point and in critical condition. Everyone's prayers are welcome.

Holly started a blog to keep anyone who would like to know up dated:

What a fun time we had! Carla and Kelly took a break from sunny California and came to see us. We went to Tucanos for lunch (yummy), and then headed to see Twilight. We all left the fun with the same question... When exactly did a hatchback become sexy??? We were Bamboozled!!! ;) ha ha ha!
